I’m a lifelong writer with work spanning poetry, personal essays, and academic treatments. As a shy kid, I came to writing at a young age to artfully and openly articulate myself. I always thought I would study writing and literature in college until I awakened to the depth of Islam. I learned to swim in Islam’s vast waters and appreciate the beauty of faith well-lived and well-understood.

At 18, I moved from New York City to Berkeley, CA to attend Zaytuna College as a member of its inaugural class. Foolishly, I thought my study of religion would be a four-year journey and I would return to my plans. Little did I know that that ocean has no shores. A decade later I am still embracing its waves.
